Kodel, an American commodity, is another polyester fibre that has been industrially produced. It is spun from a polymer derived from the polycondensation of terephthalic acid and 1, 4-cyclohexane dimethanol. Compared with polyester, it has a light specific gravity of 1.22, a higher melting point of 290 ~ 295℃, strong decomposition resistance, and slightly lower strength and elongation of fiber. Suitable for blending with cotton and wool, the fabric made of good elasticity, feel, wrinkle resistance and pilling resistance, but poor strength and wear resistance.
